Praying is my time with the Lord, it’s my service to those in need, it’s my answer when I don’t have the answers, it’s my connection to the One who writes my story. Prayer changes me, it humbles me, it serves me, it builds me up and it tears down the chains holding me back. Prayer opens my soul for God to fill me with the peace and hope I need.

But more frequently than not, I am not as specific in my prayers as I should be, I will pray to cover a multitude of things in my life or the lives of other with a general calling to God. I’m guilty of thinking “God isn’t my genie” “I need to stop asking him for so much” “This is selfish to go to God with all these requests.”  Thank God he can hear and handle it all. He is who we should take everything to. Prayer with specificity is our service to Him. Sometimes all He is waiting for is for us to come to Him and ask.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father. 13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. – John 14:12-13

General request often receive general responses. Specific prayers let us look for specific answers from God. My prayers are sometimes influenced by a lack of faith. I know I do not want a general life, I do not want general blessings! I want to have all that God has promised to me and I want to live in abundance! I want to let my life, my actions and my prayers reflect the confidence I have in God and His specific provision.

Prayer is a means of claiming God’s promises and knowing and becoming abandoned to God’s will.

I believe we are all in need of specific, bold, audacious prayers to God. Expectant prayers that bring blessings only God can create. Praying to God to be able to pray with specific, bold, confident prayers asking for what God has already called mine. Praying specifically for the future of expanding our family, specifically for the growth and success of our business, specifically for the continued manifestation of God in our marriage, specifically for my friends and family and most importantly specifically for my ever growing relationship with Christ.

What do you need to pray boldly and specifically for? Send that prayer UP and watch for God’s amazing promises of provision to come pouring down.
